Rare Birds Honorable Mention: Mamo Waianuhea (This is a photo of a Palila harvesting a māmane flower. The Palila feeds mainly on the seeds of the māmane tree, but will also eat leaf buds and flowers on occasion. Palila are critically endangered primarily due to the loss of māmane forest from grazing by non-native feral ungulates. This photo was taken on Mauna Kea, Hawaii.)
